RIMC
Rashtriya Indian Military College is an Inter Services Institute and a Category A establishment of the Ministry of Defence along with institutions like National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Officers' Training Academy, Chennai, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. The college educates young boys of 11 ½ to 18 years of age specially selected through an all India competitive examination. This college aims to send maximum boys to the NDA/NAVAC and therefore lays emphasis on all round personality development along with education. However, in case any student doesn’t join NDA, RIMC provides five years of academic course, through which he attains enough academic proficiency to get admission in professional or any other college in the country.
RIMC Exam Eligibility
Only 25 Cadets are admitted every 6 months in Rashtriya Indian Military Academy. Candidates should not be less than 11 ½ years and more than 13 years of age as on 01 Jan and 01 July of the term they join. Admissions are made to Class VIII only. The applicant must be a student of class VII or above in a recognized school at the time of joining. RIMC application forms are to be submitted to respective State governments.
RIMC Exam
The examination for admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun is held at the Shree Shivaji Preparatory Military School in Pune in the month of December. Only boys are eligible to appear for the exam.
The RIMC exam is divided into two phases:
Written Exam: Questions are based on English, Mathematics and General Knowledge. Candidates can write the answers to general knowledge and Mathematics subjects either in English or Hindi. Interviews: Candidates successful in written exam have to appear for the personal interview rounds in the month of April and October.

Successful candidates are then called for Viva - Voce test - 50 marks.
Those who qualify these two phases are sent for medical examinations and the ones who clear are invited to join.
