FCI
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) was set up under the Food Corporation Act 1964 in order to fulfil the objectives of the National Food Policy. It aims to maintain effective price support operations. It also safeguards the interests of the farmers, and looks after the distribution of food grains throughout the country through public distribution system. Also, to ensure National Food Security, it maintains satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of food grains. FCI is one of the largest Public Sector Undertakings dealing with food grain supply-chain management.
It becomes important for applicants to be prepared for competition for these posts. While your understanding of the topic might be great, you also need to know the question pattern to ace the FCI exam. This is where previous years’ papers play a useful role. FCI Application Form

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) brings out the notice for Combined Recruitment for Assistant Grade III in General, Depot, Technical and Account Cadres in the month of August. FCI recruits young and skilled Category III personnel for manning posts in its depots and offices spread all over the country. The posts are located in five zones of FCI – North, South, East, West and North East – with pay scale of Rs 9,300 to Rs 22,940. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Government of India undertakes recruitment for these posts on behalf of the Food Corporation of India.

FCI Syllabus

Detailed Syllabus for various subjects of the written examination is as follows:
Paper I
General Intelligence:  It includes questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The questions are both verbal and non-verbal type.
General Awareness: Questions for this section are designed to test the candidates’ knowledge of current events and the matters of every day observations. The test also includes questions on India and its neighbouring countries related to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Polity and Scientific Research.
Quantitative Aptitude: The questions are such which test the ability of candidates to aptly use numbers. The scope of the test will be computation of whole numbers, decimals, fractions & relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit & Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture & Alligation, Time & Distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra & Elementary surds, Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle & its various kinds of centres, Congruence & similarity of triangles, Circle & its chords, tangents, angles subtended by chords of a circle, common tangents to two or more circles, Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Trigonometric ratio, Degree & Radian Measures, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar diagram & Pie chart.
English Language: The questions are to test the comprehension and writing abilities of the candidate.                    
Paper II

English Language & Comprehension: Questions in this component will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding and knowledge of English Language and will be based on spot the errors, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling / detecting misspelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active / passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, close passage & comprehension passage.
Paper III
The question paper will consist of questions from – Botany, Zoology, Bio-technology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Science and Technology, Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering of Graduation Level.

FCI Exam 

The exam for the recruitment of this one of the largest PSUs, FCI is conducted on all India level with aspirants from all parts of India. This proves the amount of competition you will have to face, and the kind of preparation you have to do in order to convert the examination. The selection process will comprise of a Written Examination followed by Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) for General, Depot, Accounts and Technical Cadres. CPT will be the qualifying exam.
The examination will consist of two papers for General, Depot and Accounts Cadres. Candidates applying for Technical Cadre will appear in Paper-I and Paper-III. The examination in paper III will be of degree level. Paper I and II will be of Higher Secondary Level.
For General, Depot, Accounts and Technical Cadres a Computer Proficiency Test with components of Word Processing and Excel will also be held for candidates shortlisted on the basis of Paper-I and Paper-II/ Paper-III.

Final selection will be on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in Paper I and II (200 marks each) for General, Depot and Accounts Cadres and will be on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in Paper I and III (200 marks each) for Technical Cadre.

FCI Results

Staff Selection Commission announces the result of Paper-I in the month of January. The written exam is held in November. The candidates who qualify in Paper-I are eligible to appear for Paper-II and Paper- III. The Paper-II/Paper- III are held in February.
