Civil Services Syllabus Brief!






Civil services exam consists of two sections. Preliminary section consists of two papers which are objective type and carry a maximum of 400 marks. This test is mainly meant for screening purposes.
Paper 1 (preliminary examination): This paper is of two hours duration and includes questions related to the below topics.
1)   Current events of national and international importance
2)   History of India and the Indian national movement
3)   India and world geography
4)   Indian political system
5)   Economic bad Social development
Paper 2 (preliminary examination)
1)   English comprehension
2)   Logical reasoning and analytical ability
3)   Basic numeracy
4)   General mental ability
5)   Decision making and problem solving
Only candidates who clear the prelims are eligible to write the main examination.
Main examination: This examination consists of 9 papers
1)   One of the Indian languages to be selected by the candiadtes-300 marks
2)   Essay -200 marks
3)   General studies- 1 (300 marks)
4)   English – 300 marks
5)   General studies- 2 (300 marks)
6)   Electives
7)   Electives
8)   Electives
9)   Electives
Civil services syllabus includes a list of electives which provides a common platform for graduates in various streams. This makes the competition fair for all graduates.
