The IIFT application forms are out in the month of August. The IIFT application forms have to be submitted by the end of September. The exam is conducted in the month of November. Aspirants can apply online from the official website of IIFT: www.iift.edu/.

What is IIFT 
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organisation to help professionalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analysing and disseminating data; and conducting research. The Institute’s caters to the requirements of aspiring International Business executives and mid-career professionals alike. IIFT has undertaken research studies with organisations like WTO, World Bank, UNCTAD and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. The Institute has also trained more than 40,000 business professionals across 30 countries in various aspects of international business and trade policy through its Management Development Programmes.

IIFT Exam
Each question in the IIFT exam has four options and the extent of the negative marking was 1/3rd of the marks allotted to the question. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. The sections are quantitative ability, reading comprehension, English usage, data interpretation, logical reasoning and general awareness.
The questions in verbal and reading comprehension are like fill in the blanks, phrasing, analogy, antonyms, Para-jumble and word usage. The questions in data interpretation are on puzzles, symbols notation, deductions, decision making and input-output. The questions in general awareness are from the areas like sports, literature, general awareness, geography, economics, current affairs, awards and science.

IIFT Results(iift delhi and iift kolkata)

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) declares the list of candidates who are shortlisted for the Essay Writing, Group Discussion and Interview rounds, for admission to the MBA programme, in the month of January. Candidates can check their results from the website: http://www.iift.edu/new/.
There are total 281 seats for which IIFT shortlists around 1100 candidates to appear for the second round of the admissions process. This total of 281 seats combines seats of both campuses of IIFT– Delhi and Kolkata.


IIFT Syllabus

English Comprehension 
Candidates should have sound knowledge of the following topics:
Comprehension of passage, Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms , Contextual usage, Analogies, Antonyms, Fill In the Blanks, Jumbled paragraphs with 4 or 5 sentences, Foreign language words used in English, Sentence completion, Sentence correction, odd man out, idioms, one word substitution, Different usage of same word, Errors in word choice, mania & phobia, Incorrect words, Mood, Conditionals & Multiple Usage , Punctuation, Proverb, Phrasal verb etc.

Logical Reasoning
Questions from these topics are asked:
Critical reasoning, Visual reasoning, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Assertion and reasons, Statements and assumptions, identifying valid inferences , identifying Strong arguments and Weak arguments, Statements and conclusions, Cause and Effect, Identifying Probably true, Probably false, definitely true, definitely false kind of statement, Linear arrangements, Matrix arrangements, Puzzles, Family tree problem, Symbol Based problems, Coding and decoding , Sequencing , identifying next number in series etc.

Quantitative Analysis
Candidates should have sound knowledge of the following topics:
Geometry, (Lines, angles, Triangles, Spheres, Rectangles, Cube, Cone, etc.), Ratios and Proportion, Ratios, Percentages, In-equations Quadratic and linear equations Algebra, Profit & Loss, Averages, Percentages, Partnership, Time-Speed-Distance, Work and time, Number system, HCF, LCM, Geometric Progression, Arithmetic progression, Arithmetic mean, Geometric mean , Harmonic mean, Median, Mode, Number Base System, BODMAS, Mensuration, Allegation & Mixtures, Work, Pipes and Cisterns, Simple Interest & Compound Interest, Set Theory, Venn Diagram, Instalment Payments, Partnership, Clocks, Probability, Permutations & Combinations, Topics like Trigonometry, Vectors, Binomial Expansion, Co-ordinate geometry, Logarithm, Calendar, Maxima & Minima Progression, Surds & Indices and Complex numbers.

IIFT Exam Preparation
Candidates appearing for IIFT exam should familiarise with the previous IIFT exam pattern.
Brush up your GK: The General Knowledge & Awareness section is the deal-breaker here.
Work on your Speed: Speed is important. The quantitative section of IIFT is considered to be one of the toughest, tougher than CAT.
Expand your Vocabulary:  The exam’s English Comprehension section usually has a lot of questions that tests your vocabulary, so one needs to work on that. Read a lot. Nothing works like reading to improve your vocabulary as well as sentence-formation skills.
